How we choose and check

This page describes how the site actually works today, not how it might work later. When something changes, this page changes with it.

Where the facts come from

Every product record is a paraphrase of the manufacturer’s own product or support page, with that page linked and the date we read it recorded. We do not copy manufacturer text, retailer descriptions, photographs or other publishers’ rankings. If a page does not state something, the record says “not stated” rather than guessing.

What we have not done

We have not tested any of these products hands-on. There are no star ratings, no “best of” lists and no popularity counts, because we would have to invent them. Guides describe what products are documented to do and who the manufacturer says they are for.

Compatibility verdicts

“Works with my gear” looks up a published rule for two exact records and one use (recording, calls, streaming or charging). There are four answers: documented supported, documented supported with a condition, documented incompatible, and not verified. A matching connector, a familiar brand or the word “universal” never counts as evidence. If there is no rule, the answer is “not verified”, which means we have no evidence, not that it will not work.

Deal evidence

No merchant feed and no affiliate program is connected today, so this site publishes no prices, no “deals” and no availability. When an offer is published, it will show the merchant, the exact variant and condition, the listed price and known conditions (shipping, membership, coupon), what the price is being compared to and why that comparison is fair, and the time the offer was last verified. A failed check leaves an offer marked unverified; it never refreshes the timestamp or turns an old offer into a new deal.

The listing checker

“Bargain or skip” adds the replacement cost of everything a used listing says is missing (unless you own it) and every repair cost you know to the asking price, then compares that real total with a reference price you found for the same model in the same condition. Every price in it is yours and unverified by this site; the thresholds are an editorial rule printed on the tool, not market data. Classification uses exact cents, and percentages are rounded only for display. A reference for a different condition only shows a saving, never a verdict. A listing sold “for parts / not working”, a fatal defect, or a functional problem nobody has diagnosed is never a bargain or fair, whatever the price; if you enter a parts value, a labelled parts-only comparison is shown instead. An unknown required cost blocks a “bargain”. The tool does not authenticate condition, judge a seller or promise return rights. With JavaScript on, the arithmetic runs in your browser; without it, the form posts to the page, which computes the verdict and stores nothing (see Privacy for what your browser and the host’s logs keep).

How this site will earn money

The intended business is affiliate publishing: you buy from a retailer, and the retailer may pay this site a commission. No program is active yet. When one is, a disclosure will sit next to every commission link, sponsored placement (if ever accepted) will be labelled separately from editorial order, and commission rates will never change a compatibility verdict, a price comparison or which product appears first.

Corrections

If a fact, a rule or a date is wrong, tell us through the Contact page. Corrections are made to the record and dated. A corrected rule invalidates any result that depended on it.
